This 13 acre parcel was purchased in 1991 by the Town using matching funds from the State's LCIP program.
Located on Mill Street, it stretches from the Piscataquog River's edge up the hill to the Town Cemetery.
You may enjoy a picnic on the flat stretch of riverbank or walk along the trail from the granite gateposts to a stonewall which marks the end of the property.
A hike to the top will reward you with views of the village and may even treat you to signs of deer. The area is open to foot traffic only.
The site of the Saltmarsh/Friedrich Ice House abuts the picnic area. Only the foundation of the icehouse remains, and has been sand-filled.
The second grade students at the Central School raise money to provide picnic tables and other amenities for the picnic area.
The Conservation Areas require seasonal maintenance. The Commission invites New Boston residents and others to join us in this work. Please contact the Conservation Commission if you are interested.
